Rhode Island College Students Begin Visit to Praia Today
A group of 14 students and a professor from Brown University, located in the city of Providence, in the state of Rhode Island in the United States of America, begins today, Thursday, the 9th, a visit to the capital as part of the course “Diasporic Healthcare and the Creolization of Health and Medicine”.
The visit to Cape Verde is part of the third module of the course, focused on global health. The objective of this discipline, according to the note, is to explore how the social determinants of health affect access to health care and the socioeconomic dynamics of different countries.
For approximately nine days, the group will visit the two Electra plants (solar panels and desalination), the Cidade Velha health center, the Santiago Norte Regional Hospital, the Agostinho Neto Hospital, Emprofac and the Santiago Polyclinic.
Meetings
The delegation will meet with students and the rector of Uni-CV, with the president of the Organization of Women of Cape Verde (OMCV), Eloisa Cardoso, with the ambassador of the United States of America, Jennifer Adams, with the representative of the World Health Organization, with the President of the Republic, José Maria Neves and with the Minister of Health, Filomena Gonçalves.
Students will also have the opportunity to visit places of cultural interest.
The Brown University delegation returns to the United States of America on Friday, January 17. The visit is organized by EME – Marketing and Events.
