Rua da Cultura and Rua em Pé da Rocha, in Nova Sintra, emerge clean after torrential rain
Nova Sintra, September 16, 2023 - After facing the latest torrential rains that left their mark on the streets of the city and on the island, the community of Nova Sintra is proving once again its resilience and ability to unite. The streets of Cultura and Pé da Rocha, which had been affected by heavy rains, are now practically clean, thanks to a joint effort by municipal contractors coordinated by the dedicated "João de Júlia" and voluntary contributions from concerned citizens.
After the rains ended, the team of workers, under the leadership of João de Júlia, has dedicated themselves tirelessly to the task of cleaning the streets and restoring normality. They faced mud, debris and fallen trees, demonstrating an exemplary commitment to the Nova Sintra community.
The action was not limited to just contract workers, as many local residents joined the cause, offering their labor and resources to speed up the recovery process. This demonstration of solidarity and mutual support was critical to the rapid progress of cleanup operations.
City officials are also doing their part to ensure complete restoration. Tomorrow, a backhoe machine is expected to arrive to help load the debris, which will be transported by trucks to appropriate disposal sites.
President Tavares, in a recent statement, expressed his deep appreciation to everyone involved in the recovery effort and emphasized the community's spirit of resilience. He highlighted that quick response and teamwork were crucial in overcoming this challenging situation.
Residents of Nova Sintra can now move around better, as its streets are restored and normality returns to the city. The ability to face and overcome adversity is once again a testament to the spirit of unity that characterizes this remarkable community.
