São João Baptista/Brava: party planner guarantees that preparations are “well underway”

Anildo Vaz, from Brava, resident in the United States for more than 20 years, is the party leader for the flag of São João Baptista 2023, on the island of Brava, and guarantees that the preparations are proceeding as planned.

Speaking to Inforpress, the party planner explained that what motivated him to celebrate the flag this year was a promise made four years ago, a time when he faced some health difficulties, kept his faith, was saved and is now on the island to fulfill.

But he is also moved by the desire to maintain tradition, emphasizing that when he traveled to the United States he was 18 years old and he participated in these activities since he was a child and today, at the age of 40, and with the possibility of making that commitment, he could not let this opportunity pass .

As for the preparations, he said that this year the cakes, cookies, food for the day of the feast, among other delicacies, are being made in a deconcentrated way, that is, unlike the other years that it was in charge of a group of women in Mother's School in Nova Sintra.

According to Anildo Vaz, the production is under the responsibility of several people, but in different places. In this sense, he stressed that he manages to “control” the situation better, ensuring that the majority has already been done.

Regarding the food for the traditional lunch, he informed that it will also be prepared in Cova Rodela at his residence and then transported to Vila de Nova Sintra, where the flag is celebrated.

For the Brave people, whether local residents or in the diaspora, it calls for a union around tradition so as not to let it die, because, according to the party planner, united anything is possible.
