Ilha do Sal: Kriola ship crashes into Palmeira dock forcing the cancellation of scheduled trips to three islands
CV Interilhas today announced the cancellation of scheduled trips to the islands of Sal, Boa Vista and Santiago, after the ship Kriola hit the quay at the port of Palmeira, on the island of Sal.

The incident happened on the afternoon of Thursday, February 27, at around 6pm, due to adverse weather conditions, with very strong winds and gusts, in the port of Palmeira.
"The Cape Verde archipelago is under the influence of intense winds and strong swells, factors that impacted the maneuvering of the ship in the port region," explains the maritime transport concessionaire in Cape Verde.
According to the same source, the collision only resulted in material damage to the side of the ship, and there were no incidents involving passengers," says the statement.
In the same document, CV Interilhas stressed that as a safety measure, and taking into account the protection of passengers and crew, the Sal - Boavista - Santiago voyages have been canceled until the appropriate sailing conditions are met.
"The 18 passengers in transit to the islands of Boavista and Santiago have already received assistance and have been put up in a local hotel. At the same time, we are working on alternative flights to ensure that they travel as soon as possible," continued the same source.
Also according to CV Interilhas, the company is "making every effort" to get the Kriola ship back in operation as soon as possible to ensure the continuity of services.
It should be noted that the ship Kriola was replacing the ship Dona Tututa on the round line (São Vicente/São Nicolau/Sal/Boavista/Santiago) due to a technical intervention, after it broke down last week on the island of Boa Vista.
