Santo António/Brava: Activities at Nhô Santo António are already moving Lém and the expectations of the organization are the best

The president of the Lém association, responsible for organizing the Nho Santo António festival, Anselmo Pina, announced that activities have already started and that expectations are high due to the influence and involvement of the population.

Speaking to Inforpress, the same source said that this year, unlike previous ones, it is not the association that is celebrating the Flag, but an emigrant based in the United States, who made a promise, and as it was not possible for her to come, attributed this responsibility to the association and organization of Santo António.

Assuming this responsibility, he informed that some activities had been programmed as usual, starting with the sports, recreational and cultural part, but also the flag party itself.

According to the same source, sporting activities began on the 13th of May with the start of the under 15 "soccer" tournament, the Nhô Djonzinho tournament, a senior women's and men's football tournament, old glories.

Likewise, he stressed that they are already in the preparation and making of cakes for the Flag party, but also rehearsals for Miss Santo António, which will be held on June 9, among other preparations.

There are also other activities scheduled, such as the popular dance on the 10th, with guest artists such as Leo Pereira, Marcos d´Mana, R Love, Rosa and Banda, among others.

On the sports circuit, athletics and cycling events, donkey races and motorcycle parades are scheduled, followed by the presentation of trophies at the end.

All activities culminate on the 13th of June, and for the Flag Festival, as usual, the day before eve, known as “pilon”, will be held, then there are eves and the day of Saint Anthony is the highest point, which early in the morning, at 06:00, it starts with the procession to the Mast, then the mass and procession, later the popular lunch, the boat to the Mast and the passing of the Flag.

As for the Flag itself, Anselmo Pina asks for greater engagement from society in the sense of each one giving their support and not letting the tradition die, remembering that the Flag was already in the church and its reactivation and rescue was carried out by the association of Lém, pledging not to let the flag leave the zone.

Well, he justified that they always found the legacy that this tradition is from Lém and does not leave there, because when leaving for other locations it is no longer considered the Flag of Santo António, as it leaves its Patron zone, but for that it takes a everyone's engagement.
