David Pascoal explained to Inforpress that this activity is part of environment week, to mark World Environment Day (June 5th), which began on Monday, 3rd, and that
runs until Friday, 7th, with the aim of relating the environment to art, as they are, in his view, “important” aspects in society.
“During this week we have more activities, namely exhibitions on the school wall, and the artists are our students or former students and therefore, without a doubt, we have excellent artists with talents”, he highlighted.
In turn, the director of the environmental NGO, Dheeraj Jayant, considered that the association believes that art is a “very important” awareness-raising tool to “expose” the reality of Brava Island, with regard to the environment and culture.
Therefore, he further stated that when the teachers at this institution presented the project to them, they were quite “enthusiastic”, taking into account that they were already working with visual artists, using arts, with the aim of raising awareness among the community about the environment, plants and endemic fauna, that is, about everything the island has.
However, he stressed that they want to create a culture of art and with the participation of students, which he considered to be even better, taking into account that students are the “future of tomorrow”.
“We make art for a living and this is a culture that needs to be developed in this municipality, as we have many talents and we need to give them opportunities to use this intersection between art and environment, which will promote the island's culture”, he concluded.
