Providence, R.I. - Stephanie Tavares, executive director of Cape Verdean Community Development, was selected to participate in the Executive Director Learning Circle, a program promoted by the Alliance for Nonprofit Impact of the United Way of Rhode Island. The initiative aims to strengthen non-profit organizations with an annual budget of less than US$1 million by offering training in strategic planning, fundraising and board engagement.

Tavares has stood out for his work on behalf of the Cape Verdean community in Rhode Island, promoting community development, cultural preservation and support for immigrant families. The organization provides specialized services and programs aimed at improving the quality of life of the Cape Verdean diaspora.

Being part of the select group of 12 leaders chosen for the new class of the program, Tavares will have the opportunity to strengthen his work and expand the impact of Cape Verdean Community Development. The Executive Director Learning Circle relies on the exchange of experiences and collaborative learning to boost the work of organizations working in areas such as food insecurity, youth development and accessibility for people with disabilities.

Stephanie Tavares' participation reaffirms the importance of the Cape Verdean presence in building a more inclusive and resilient Rhode Island.
