The Chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) of ENAPOR, Ireneu Camacho, announced that work on the Mindelo Cruise Terminal in Cape Verde should be completed by the end of March, during the current cruise season, which runs until May.
The statement was made during a working visit to the terminal by Cape Verde's Minister of the Sea, Jorge Santos.
The statement was made during a working visit by Cape Verde's Minister of the Sea, Jorge Santos, to the terminal on January 21. According to the PCA, the terminal is already able to receive cruise ships. "In April we'll be in a position to receive cruise ships," said Ireneu Camacho, highlighting the progress of the works.
During the visit, the Minister for the Sea was able to see that the maritime works have been completed, as well as the first phase of the power and water supply project, known as Onshore Power Supply. At the moment, work is concentrated on the land part of the terminal, including the completion of the square and the open-air amphitheater.
Ireneu Camacho also pointed out that the second phase of the Onshore Power Supply project will include the construction of a solar wind farm, with the aim of transporting sustainable energy to the port and the terminal. This infrastructure reinforces Cape Verde's commitment to the use of renewable sources and the promotion of more sustainable tourism.
The completion of the Mindelo Cruise Terminal represents an important milestone for Cape Verde, consolidating the country as a strategic destination for cruise tourism. By catering for international ships with more infrastructure and sustainable energy, the terminal promises to attract more visitors and foster the region's economic and cultural development.
With the completion of the Mindelo Cruise Terminal, the country's cruise tourism will be one of the most important destinations in Cape Verde.
With the completion of the works, it is expected that there will be a significant increase in the number of ships and passengers who will be able to explore the cultural and natural riches of São Vicente, further boosting the archipelago's tourism sector.
