The negative impact of not holding the championship could be devastating for Brava's youth
It is with great concern that we note that the Brava Regional Championship will not be held after the elections have ended. The question that echoes throughout the island is: "Will the championship take place or not?" The lack of interest on both sides — players and clubs — is evident. The only institutions still committed to making the event happen are the Brava Regional Association and the Municipal Council, which has shown willingness to help and has distinguished itself with exemplary work in several areas, despite the difficulties.
The negative impact of not holding the championship could be devastating for the youth of Brava. Without healthy competition and without prospects of using their time productively, young people could find themselves demotivated, especially on an island where, unfortunately, alcohol consumption is one of the highest in the country and drug use is on the rise. What are we offering these young people? What do we want for the future of our society?
It is even more regrettable when we see the Brava teams performing well in a national championship and yet we will not have the biggest regional competition on the island. The lack of this event is a setback and a missed opportunity to stimulate local talent and give young people a reason to stay motivated and engaged in healthy activities.
We appeal to all players, clubs and those involved in this process: the lack of a regional championship will not bring a good image to the island. On the contrary, it could further aggravate social problems and affect the well-being of our youth. We must urgently find solutions so that young people can keep busy with activities that help them grow, compete healthily and do what is good. The island of Brava deserves a better and more promising future for its youth.
