The shameful exposure of people's vulnerabilities, perpetrated by the Mayor of Brava. An attack on dignity against the poorest populations.

"Do good without looking at who"

Despite the public condemnation and against the suggestion of the General Secretariat of the MpD, the President of the City Council of Brava has been exposing, in a cowardly and criminal way, photographs of the distribution of “crumbs” to citizens, framed in the most disadvantaged class of the island of Brava.

In a clear act of political exploitation, without any involvement of social organisations, namely the Red Cross, churches and civil society, Francisco Tavares, always the one responsible for the fate of the island, has been exploiting people's vulnerability.

The political non-use of the virus is the least that seriousness requires, because otherwise, one could be more dangerous than the dangerousness that the Coronavirus represents.

The public exposure of people, in addition to being criminal and immoral, shows the bad character of the person who makes it, and goes against all the manuals of social relations, of the public servant, that Tavares represents.

Being in a clear descent in terms of popularity, Virus did not come at a good time, pass the misinterpretations, because the President is surfing this wave to try to be the candidate for the next elections.

Were it not for this intention, the President of the Chamber should summon the Opposition party, PAICV, the living forces of Braveense society, the Red Cross, religious denominations, etc., to join this fight in favor of the poor and needy of the island.

Acting in this way, we are almost sure that Tavares has three ideas in his head: Claiming the political gains of distributing crumbs; widen the potential area of centrality of choice of beneficiaries; and create an artificial environment of a socially concerned administration.

President Tavares is wrong and tries to deceive us: he, the President of the virus. The President of the virus is the one who governs when an epidemic or pandemic breaks out, and will be judged by what he did before the crisis, what he does during, and what he will do afterwards.

The distribution of crumbs, which should last three to four days, in the average household on the island (4 people), should never be used as a political action.

You can try to deny it, as you wouldn't be crazy to accept it. By leading the process of choosing the beneficiaries, accompanying the distributions in person, not allowing the participation of the Red Cross and churches, taking photographs and publishing them, he is clearly saying, “yes, I want to take political advantage of this”.

It is a miserable political use that could result in something clearly contrary to the intention of Francisco Walter Tavares, who is doing everything to ingratiate himself with his party and be chosen as a candidate for the next municipal elections.

Playing in anticipation, on an island with no case of the virus that is devastating the world, Tavares seeks to surf this wave, making political gains, showing service, in an almost three-year-old portfolio, empty.

In the three years of his governance, he did nothing more than “spend” the money made available by the Government, showing that he was just being its Delegate.

In a void of creativity, with an administration clearly tied to what the Government makes available, without taking into account the real contribution of the people of the island and emigrants, Tavares is faced with a growing drop in popularity. With that, he takes advantage of the vulnerability of the people of Brave, in an unprecedented act of inhumanity, to position himself in the starting line for the October elections.

It is revolting to see the photographs of distribution of basic food baskets and the sad faces of people, who do not want to see their images published, but can do nothing, because they need food for their children and family.

It is still revolting to know that, going against the precepts and moral principles, which are recommended, that we should not let the left hand become aware of what the right hand has done, and not listening to the critical voice, President Tavares continues, without shame, publishing the photographs.

Not stopping this immoral and criminal action, a group of people are thinking of taking legal action against the Mayor of Brava, for moral damages, exploitation of vulnerabilities to attack the dignity of the human person.

In addition, (see photo) The Mayor forgot that the country is in a state of emergency, and the people who help him with the distribution are not complying with the rule of social isolation and not even the distance of two meters.
