PR urges JPAI to bring African youth concerns to the international agenda

The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, challenged young Cape Verdeans from the União da Juventude Internacional Socialista (IUSY), to bring to the international agenda the concerns of African youth, which do not always coincide with those of developed countries, and whose youth organizations generally belong to societies with another level of problems.

The appeal was made during an audience this Wednesday, by the PR to a JPAI delegation, headed by its president and newly elected vice-president of the IUSY (Union of International Socialist Youth), Fidel de Pina.

Hence, the President of the Republic welcomed the possibility of bringing the IUSY presidium and congress to Africa, and in particular to Cape Verde, as, in this case, it would give greater visibility to the JPAI, the PAICV and the Cape Green.

In this regard, the Head of State also challenges JPAI to bring to Africa an agenda with genuinely African issues, with emphasis on reflections on the main challenges of our sub-region.

The President of the Republic, quoting Pope Francis, “Don't be afraid”, left the challenge for the youth to be irreverent, sharp and persistent in defending their ideals and in the fight for their realization.

The audience was also an opportunity for JPAI to make known the themes and concerns that are part of this socialist youth organization and the , was also used to bring up current national issues with implications for the life of the country's youth.

José Maria Neves was informed of the recent election of the president of JPAI as one of the vice-presidents of IUSY, as well as the fact that the current president is a woman and African, from Tunisia.

On the other hand, the approval of Portuguese as one of the official languages of the organization deserves to be highlighted. JPAI expressed its intention to make efforts to bring the socialist youth congress to the African continent.
