NSAR vessel “Ilhéu dos Pássaros” transports technicians from Fogo Island to Brava and medical evacuation mission

The NSAR vessel “Ilhéu dos Pássaros” carried out, on January 24, the commander of the Civil Protection and Fire Department of the Fogo and Brave Region and two Cape Verde road technicians from the island of Fogo to Ilha Brava, to assess the damage caused by the collapse of a rock that cut the only access route to the locality of Fajã d'Água and which is currently isolated.
The vessel then moved to Fogo Island for another medical evacuation mission (MEDEVAC), with the utmost urgency, after the Joint Search and Rescue Center - JRCC received a request from the Social Worker at the Hospital da Ilha angry.
The Joint Search and Rescue Center engaged the NSAR “Ilhéu dos Pássaros”, which left towards Porto do Vale dos Cavaleiros, at 2:20 pm with two patients (a pregnant woman and an elderly woman) and three companions on board, having docked at 3:00 pm.
The two missions were successfully carried out, with the Technicians already on Brava Island to carry out their duties and the evacuees on Fogo Island for proper treatment.
It should be remembered that the NSAR “Ilhéu dos Pássaros was placed on Ilha Brava with the aim of ensuring greater surveillance and inspection of illegal activities that may occur in the region, but also to reinforce the country's capacity to carry out search and rescue operations and support in the protection civilian as well as medical evacuations.
