Portuguese cybersecurity company Visionware announced a partnership with the University of Santiago with the aim of identifying and recruiting local talent to join its team in Cape Verde. The information was confirmed by CEO Bruno Castro to the Lusa agency.

"It is planned to integrate into the Visionware team located in the office in the city of Praia, at TechPark" and "there should be occasional trips to Portugal" for training and internal events, explained Bruno Castro.

According to the CEO, any reinforcement "will always be dependent" on the evolution of the business in Cape Verde, which "has been going very well", with "good growth prospects until the end of the year".

The target audience for this initiative are students studying Computer Engineering courses at the University of Santiago, who will be able to join the company through curricular or professional internships, with the possibility of being hired later.

This partnership with the University of Santiago joins other existing collaborations with the University of Cape Verde (UniCV) and the University of Mindelo. Over the last two years, the company has achieved positive results with internships from these institutions and NOSiAkademia. "We are very confident in this new investment in the tech talent of young Cape Verdeans", said Bruno Castro.

The Visionware office at TechPark in the city of Praia currently has a team of 30 people, all Cape Verdeans, the majority of whom are recruited through internships.

Visionware's international business in Cape Verde represents 17% of its turnover, with special emphasis on cybersecurity, compliance and incident monitoring center (SOC) operations, with local human resources operating around the world .

In the archipelago, Visionware has more than 20 active clients in various sectors, including central and public administration, pharmaceuticals, banking and insurance, energy and transport.
