According to Mário Jorge Rodrigues, the two-day visit of the Minister of Family, Inclusion and Social Development, which began today, further demonstrates the Government's “commitment” to the island
Brava, especially in a matter “as sensitive” as social action.
“This issue is a concern for the Government and also for the local authority, and at the moment there is a partnership between the two, with some programs for family members from Brava, whose funding came directly from this ministry”, stated the substitute president of the local authority.
In this sense, the same source mentioned the social income program, which, in 2024, will benefit 183
people, but also the access to pre-school program, in which, annually, the municipality receives one million escudos for rehabilitation and pre-school needs.
According to the same source, training was recently provided to a group of women, especially in terms of productive inclusion.
These are measures, he continued, that the Ministry of Family, Inclusion and Social Development has implemented on the island, together with the city council, so that low-income families have better conditions.
“We can see that these programs take people off welfare, which is a big fight at national level that has to be done”, stated Mário Jorge Rodrigues.
