Fire Volcano. Data shows no anomalies

This Sunday, some messages shared on social media pointed to a possible eruption scenario, as smoke was visible, however, the National Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics has already confirmed that the phenomenon observed on the East Coast of Fogo Island, at the site called Rola -Rola, “it’s not” an eruptive cloud.

“The data recorded by the Geophysical Monitoring Network of the Fogo Volcano does not show any anomaly, which could point to a possible eruption, in progress or about to happen”, explains an official note.

“Judging by the images analyzed, these are clouds of dust raised by the frequent falling of rocks at that site”, he adds.

The same note admits that it is “probable that the heavy rainfall that occurred on the Island during this year contributed to greater erosion, which favors the fall of rocks, so the situation has nothing to do with Brava Island”.
