A fire of unknown origin broke out this afternoon around 100 square meters in the vicinity of the Aquiles D'Oliveira Stadium in Nova Sintra, but without material and human damage.
This information was provided to Inforpress by the head of the municipal sector of Civil Protection and Firefighters, in Brava, António Lopes, who stressed that thanks to the local residents and the military who joined the Fire Department, they managed to fight the fire in time, no thus registering neither material nor human damage.
For those responsible for civil protection, it is necessary to be more careful at this time when the temperature is very high and to avoid risky behaviour.
In this sense, he leaves a recommendation to the entire population of Brave in order to remain more attentive and take the necessary precautions because, "it is small actions that bring big problems to society as a whole".
Questioned about the origin of the fire, this official advanced that the information is still scarce, but that the version that is being conveyed is that there were children circulating in the place with matches in their hands, but that is not proven at all, reinforcing that there are other versions that the fire was caused by the high temperature.
Likewise, Carlos Jorge, a resident of the locality, asks for more attention from the population in order to be more careful, especially at this time, avoiding risk situations.
As evidenced, if they did not notice the fire in time, it would certainly cause damage because it was already approaching areas with more pasture and could quickly spread to a larger dimension, thus reaching the houses and stables of the animals in the area.
“We need to be more careful because at this temperature, the pasture is dry and any spark is enough to catch fire”, he stressed, warning cigarette smokers in particular to be very careful when throwing the remains anywhere.
