Workers in the Sanitation sector at Brava City Council demand better working conditions and protection
City of Nova Sintra, November 2, 2023 - Workers in the sanitation sector at Brava City Council are raising significant concerns about the precarious conditions in which they carry out their duties. Lack of adequate personal protective equipment, especially adequate masks, has been a critical issue, making them vulnerable to various health risks while carrying out their daily activities.
In addition to the absence of protective equipment, workers also expressed dissatisfaction with low wages, the lack of social protection and the lack of a career plan within the institution. These problems have generated uncertainty regarding the future of these professionals who play a fundamental role in maintaining basic sanitation in the municipality.
"We are facing unsafe working conditions every day. We don't have the tools we need to protect our health, and what's more, our wages don't adequately reflect the hard work we do," said one of the workers, who preferred to remain anonymous for fear of reprisals.
The lack of effective measures to resolve these issues has led to growing dissatisfaction among workers, who are now coming together to make a public call for urgent change.
Sought to comment on the workers' concerns, Brava City Council has not yet issued official statements on the matter, so as soon as we have the city council's position we will bring it here.
While workers continue to play an essential role in ensuring hygiene and sanitation in the community, their concerns highlight the immediate need for action to ensure safer working conditions, living wages and a more stable future for those who dedicate their efforts to services. so essential for the municipality.
