Speaking to Inforpress, Francisco Tavares assured today that the company Estrada de Cabo Verde has already received the money that was released by the Government, as a fund due to the declaration of a state of calamity for the floods.
“This January, the company responsible for paving the road was supposed to be doing the work, since the wall has already been completely rebuilt and now, on our part, all that remains is to pave the road and clean it. , in the place where the collapse occurred”, he informed.
As the mayor highlighted, the Fajã d´Água road needs, as quickly as possible, the intervention of the company Estrada de Cabo Verde, whose damage was caused by floods from the rains of September and October last year.
“The road itself is national and therefore, there are companies that participated in a tender to be able to maintain the road, however, the company Estradas de Cabo Verde determines the tender”, he explained.
Francisco Tavares stressed that this situation is something that he has already “noticed”, however, he considered that an “emergency” intervention should have already taken place, as there are some points whose situation is “terrible” and could put access to the location at risk. of Fajã d´Água.
“In the parts where cars are traveling there are many holes, without sidewalks, which causes complete discomfort to any driver or passenger traveling there”, he highlighted.
Tavares also stated that the municipality has already shown full willingness to receive the funds and manage it.
“If this happens, we guarantee that in just one month we will have the access road to Fajã d ́Água completely renovated”, he concluded.
In turn, the resident and driver of the town of Fajã d´Água Joaquim de Pina said that they experienced many difficulties at the beginning of the incident, taking into account that the cars were stuck in the community, but recalled that an alternative road was improvised that allowed access to the area.
“For some time, we used this road, which was used to exit and enter many cars that were trapped within the town. But days later, work began at the site, which has already taken around seven to eight months of work, and is now in the final phase”, he assured.
Joaquim de Pina stressed that he hopes that with interventions from the city council the road will be as it was before, or even better.
Furthermore, he highlighted that on the access road to the area, there are many places that require intervention, taking into account that the path is very dilapidated.
“Fajã d´Água is a location very popular with tourists and emigrants, all the people who visit the location are enchanted, therefore, we call for the intervention of the competent authorities, as it is a community that generates a lot of income for the population and not only ”, he concluded.
