Speaking to Inforpress, Manuel dos Santos, responsible for the group that came from Fogo Island, said that they have been in Brava since the 26th, on a mission that ends this Monday, the 31st, and the objective was to meet with the church community on Brava to strengthen their faith together and work together.

As explained by this official, the youth group of the New Apostolic Church in Fogo was created in 2002 and several activities were planned to be developed, in addition to religious works. In 2012, the first camp was held in the municipality of Santa Catarina do Fogo, with 145 young people.

After this date, he stressed that they held camps almost every year, with the exception of 2014, when they had a visit from the Chief Apostle and in 2020 and 2021 because of covid-19.

However, it showed that all eight camps were held on Fogo Island, but that in the 7th and 8th, the need arose to involve Brave youth in the group. For this reason, some young people from Brava participated in both editions and it was announced at the last camp held that the 9th would be here on Brava to strengthen young people on the island and give young people from Fogo the opportunity to be on another island.

Asked about what activities they carry out, he highlighted that these are more focused on religious activities, although some leisure, sports and recreational activities are carried out.

Today, the activities culminated with the "divine service" which, like every Sunday, brings young people together in the house of God, but the particularity of this Sunday is that all the young people and the Brave community gathered together with the youth of Fire together to praise God.

During the five days in Brava, he informed that they have been conducting Bible studies and that this year the study of the Catechism of the New Apostolic Creed was praised so that all young people can understand the doctrine.

The pastor of the Nova Apostolica church in Brava, Gabriel Marcelino, made a “positive assessment” of this exchange, noting that they were days of many blessings and colorful days, which he believes were “important” to unite and strengthen young people in the faith.

In turn, Adi de Pina, a young man from Brave who took part in these activities, showed his joy and that of all the other young men from Brave who had this opportunity to meet with the young people of Fogo, praising the event, considering that it served to strengthen them the life of faith and on a spiritual level.

According to this young man, activities of this type should be carried out frequently and to involve more young people, believing that it could be a way of rescuing some of the young people who are “lost in the life of faith”.

Maria Veiga from the island of Fogo, underlined that this is the first time they left Fogo, stressing that all the objectives set were fulfilled, also praising the way in which they were welcomed by the Brave brothers.
